Solar System FAQs Karachi  — Answered by SunnyPath Energy

1. Trust & Legitimacy

Is SunnyPath Energy a legitimate solar company in Karachi?

Yes. SunnyPath Energy is an AEDB-certified (Alternative Energy Development Board) solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) company based in Karachi, with over 225 solar systems installed across residential, commercial, and industrial properties — including cases where we were called in specifically to fix installations done incorrectly by other companies.

Is SunnyPath Energy AEDB certified?

Yes, SunnyPath Energy holds AEDB Category C1 certification, which is required for any installer whose clients want to apply for K-Electric net metering.

How many solar systems has SunnyPath Energy installed?

Over 225 systems to date across Karachi — residential, commercial, and industrial — including both new installations and complaint-resolution projects for systems installed by other companies.

Why should I choose SunnyPath Energy over a cheaper quote?

A lower quote almost always excludes something — the battery, AC (Alternating Current) wiring, net metering fees, or uses lower-quality components without real warranties. We price every system with Tier-1 equipment and full protective components as standard. We’d rather explain why our quote is fair than win business with a number we can’t stand behind.

2. Panels & Inverters

What solar panels does SunnyPath Energy use?

We install exclusively Tier-1 panel brands — Jinko, Longi, and JA Solar — priced currently between Rs. 42 and Rs. 48 per watt for panels in the 585W to 670W range (June 2026 Karachi market rates). These brands are chosen for proven long-term field performance and manufacturer stability, since a solar panel is a 25-year investment.

What inverter should I choose for a single phase system?

For single phase systems, we work with Ziewnic (affordable, strong local support), Inverex (top of the list, good warranty, widely available), Solis (reliable monitoring), GoodWe (good price-to-performance), and budget options like Fronus and Itel. We recommend based on your actual budget and reliability needs — not to upsell.

What inverter should I choose for a three phase system?

For three phase systems, we work with Solis (our top recommendation for hybrid three phase), Sungrow (premium, excellent monitoring), GoodWe (reliable, good value), Inverex (strong on-grid option), and Growatt (good value for on-grid). Three phase inverters in Pakistan start at a 10kW (kilowatt) minimum — even if you install fewer panels initially, this gives you built-in room to expand later by just adding panels, without replacing the inverter.

3. Single Phase vs Three Phase

What’s the difference between single phase and three phase solar in Karachi?

Roughly 80% of Karachi homes are on single phase connections. The critical difference: net metering with K-Electric is only available for three phase connections — single phase cannot apply, no exceptions. Single phase systems save you money during the day and rely on a battery for night coverage. Three phase systems with net metering can work toward eliminating your bill entirely by exporting surplus units to the grid for credit.

How do I check which connection type my home has?

Check your K-Electric bill (it states 1-Ph or 3-Ph in the tariff details), look at your physical meter (single and three phase meters look different), or call/visit your K-Electric office directly.

Can I upgrade from single phase to three phase later?

Yes, but it takes patience. K-Electric surveys your premises to confirm the upgrade is genuinely needed, the process can take several months, and there are connection fees involved. You need at least one K-Electric bill under the new three phase meter before applying for net metering.

What’s the biggest mistake homeowners make with phase selection?

Installing a single phase system when they actually have a three phase meter. The single phase quote looks cheaper upfront, but it permanently forfeits net metering eligibility — walking away from bill credits that would have paid back the price difference many times over.

4. Pricing (Market, June 2026)

One of the most common parts of any solar system FAQs Karachi search is pricing — here’s what things actually cost in 2026

What does a 5kW (kilowatt) solar system cost in Karachi?

A 5kW single phase hybrid system with a standard battery costs approximately Rs. 7 lakh to Rs. 9 lakh. With a 16kWh (kilowatt-hour) extended backup battery, this rises to Rs. 13 to 15 lakh. A three phase 5kW on-grid system with net metering costs Rs. 8 to 11 lakh, while a three phase 5kW hybrid system (battery + net metering) costs Rs. 12 to 18 lakh.

What does a 10kW solar system cost in Karachi?

A 10kW single phase hybrid system runs Rs. 11 to 15 lakh. A 10kW three phase on-grid system with net metering costs Rs. 12 to 14 lakh, and a full 10kW three phase hybrid system costs Rs. 15 to 19 lakh.

Why do solar quotes vary so much for the same system size?

Because no two quotes are actually for the same thing. A cheaper quote often excludes the battery, AC wiring, or net metering fees, or substitutes a lower-quality inverter with no real warranty — all of which get billed separately later, often costing more in total than a transparent quote from the start.

What’s included in a complete SunnyPath Energy quote?

Panels, inverter, mounting structure, DC (Direct Current) and AC wiring, earthing, installation and commissioning, and battery (for hybrid systems) — every component itemized, not bundled into a vague total.

Does SunnyPath Energy offer installment plans?

No, we do not currently offer installment plans.

What is SunnyPath Energy’s payment structure?

65% upfront to begin the project, 30% upon first material delivery, and the remaining 5% after testing and before commissioning. Once the system is commissioned, we fully hand over and guide the client through everything — how the system works, monitoring, and basic upkeep.

5. Net Metering

Does SunnyPath Energy help with NEPRA/K-Electric net metering approval?

Yes, we manage the entire net metering process — pre-application compliance checks, documentation, submission, coordinating the K-Electric survey (our representative attends in person), and following up until your reverse meter is installed and live.

What documents are needed for net metering in Karachi?

Your K-Electric bill and your CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card) — both must have matching names. If the bill isn’t in your name, a property lease agreement is also required.

How long does net metering approval take in Karachi?

Typically 1.5 to 2 months from application submission to a working reverse meter, provided the system passes K-Electric’s survey on the first visit and documentation is complete from day one.

What sanctioned load do I need for net metering?

Your sanctioned load should be 2 to 3kW above your installed solar capacity — for a 10kW system, we recommend 12 to 13kW sanctioned load to avoid rejection at the application stage.

Why do net metering applications get rejected or delayed?

The two most common reasons: sanctioned load being lower than system capacity, and technical failures during the K-Electric survey — usually the system not alarming correctly when the grid is cut, earthing resistance above 5 Ohms, or improper AC/DC separation.

What earthing standard does net metering require?

K-Electric requires a minimum of two separate earthings — one for AC, one for DC — with resistance below 5 Ohms, tested physically on survey day. We use full copper earthing exclusively, since cheaper mixed-metal alternatives degrade and climb above this threshold over time, causing survey failures months after installation.

6. Performance & Maintenance

Why does solar output drop after 1-2 years in Karachi?

The most common reason by far is dirty panels — Karachi’s dust, sea air, humidity, and infrequent rain cause a 15-20% generation loss within just 1-2 months without cleaning. Other causes include inverter overheating from poor ventilation or placement, inverter overloading beyond its rated capacity, and component degradation in MC4 connectors (the standard connectors joining solar panels to DC wiring), DC wiring, or breakers when low-quality materials were used originally.

How often should solar panels be cleaned in Karachi?

At least once a month, ideally every 15 days, given Karachi’s dust and infrequent rainfall. A basic self-rinse weekly is fine as a supplement, but doesn’t replace a proper professional clean using solar-specific soap and a final dry-mop finish.

Can I clean my own solar panels?

You can do a basic water rinse yourself, and we encourage it between professional cleanings. But most people skip the soap wash and final dry-mop step — without these, a white powdery mineral residue builds up on the panel surface and blocks sunlight, which actually reduces output rather than improving it.

Does SunnyPath Energy provide a warranty?

Yes — 1.5 years of free after-sales service on every installation, on top of manufacturer warranties (Tier-1 panels typically carry 25-year performance warranties; inverters vary by brand, generally 3-10 years, with some hybrid units offering a shorter full-warranty period followed by additional years of parts-only service).

Does SunnyPath Energy offer AMC (Annual Maintenance Contracts)?

Yes. For a 5-15kW system, AMC runs PKR (Pakistani Rupee) 15,000-25,000 per year, including a scheduled visit roughly every two months plus continuous generation monitoring — so issues are caught from the data, not just on a fixed calendar date. Larger systems are quoted based on capacity.

Does SunnyPath Energy maintain or clean systems installed by other companies?

Yes — we provide maintenance, AMC, and cleaning services regardless of who originally installed the system.

What does a SunnyPath Energy maintenance visit actually check?

Generation and performance versus expected output, breaker health, MC4 connector condition, wiring integrity, mounting structure stability, and corrosion or structural wear — not just whether the inverter is switched on.

7. Inverter Repair

Does SunnyPath Energy repair inverters, even if they didn’t install it?

Yes. Inverter repair is one of our most requested services, and we’ve repaired over 150 inverters across Karachi — regardless of who originally installed the system.

What inverter brands and error codes does SunnyPath Energy repair?

We repair every major inverter brand operating in Karachi — Inverex, Solis, Ziewnic, and others. Brand doesn’t matter, skill does — across on-grid, hybrid, three-phase, and single-phase systems. This includes common error codes like 01, 02, 08, 09, 15, 51, F52, and F53, which display differently depending on the inverter model and brand.

What’s the most common cause of inverter faults SunnyPath Energy sees?

A large share of the faults we’re called for trace back to how the system was originally installed, not a manufacturing defect in the inverter itself — incorrect wiring, battery and AC (Alternating Current) connections mixed up, or grid parameter settings left on factory default instead of properly configured. These mistakes are common when a system was installed by someone offering a lower price without the technical background to back it up, and can take days, weeks, or even a month to surface as a recurring error.

How does SunnyPath Energy diagnose an inverter fault?

Our representative visits your site first to inspect and diagnose. Many faults turn out to be site-related — loose wiring, incorrect grid settings, or earthing issues affecting the inverter’s readings — and we resolve these directly on-site without removing anything. If the diagnosis points to a genuine hardware fault, we uninstall the unit and bring it to our own lab for proper root-cause repair, then reinstall and recommission it correctly once repaired and tested under load.

Can I get an inverter diagnosed without waiting for a scheduled visit?

Yes — send us a photo or video of your inverter’s error display on WhatsApp (0344-7654540 or 0306-2948694), and in many cases we can give you an initial read on whether it’s likely a site issue or something needing lab repair, before we even arrive.

Why does faulty earthing often get mistaken for an inverter fault?

Poor quality or incorrectly separated AC/DC (Direct Current) earthing frequently disguises itself as an inverter fault — showing up as insulation resistance errors, unexplained trips, or faults that clear and return repeatedly. We check the system’s earthing on nearly every repair call, since improperly done earthing from the original installation is often the real root cause behind an inverter that keeps acting up.
